Thamil Cultural Society of BC

Preserving and Promoting Thamil language and culture in British Columbia and the vicinity. The Thamil Cultural Society of British Columbia was formed in 1994, by the Thamils of BC to address multicultural concerns. It aims to bring together all Thamils living in BC by their common cultural heritage and the concerns and interests they share as Thamils living in Canada, regardless of their different countries of origin - India, SriLanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Fiji, Mauritius, South Africa, Guyana and the Caribbean. The Society's main objective is to assist the Thamil people of B. C. in fostering their culture while they participate fully and successfully in a rapidly evolving multicultural Canada.

The Society continues to promote activities that would enrich the cultural life of Thamil people and create awareness and understanding of their culture among other cultural groups. Thus the Society will strive to fulfill the cultural needs of the new and growing Thamil community in British Columbia.

The Society is non-profit, non-political and self-governing organization. It is a voluntary, community-based and democratically constituted organization, incorporated under the Society Act of BC.

Membership is open to anyone interested in the objectives of the Society and at least 18 years of age.
